I’m Julian, an Artist Blacksmith born & based in Toronto’s east end.

As an artist, my goal is to blur the line between art and function. There’s a fundamental difference between an art piece that is seen in an object that is used. When an object sees use it disappears and becomes an embodiment of its function; a hammer hammers, a cup cups, a ring rings, A light lights. When a functional object is turned into art, so is the function itself.

The Smithing trade has changed in 100 years. Were once we were functional craftsman, now we live in the world of art. And so here I stand. All of my art is functional. All of my crafts are sculptural. When you interact with a piece by Tap ‘N Anvil / Amati Forge, your interaction is part of the art.
